Discover The Bridal Artistry & Timeless Elegance of Lè Couture Peony

In today’s bridal fashion world, luxury means more than just a beautiful gown. It is increasingly about intention, craftsmanship, and the story behind the piece. Brides are not only looking for something to wear on their wedding day. They are looking for something that feels personal, thoughtful, and made for them with care.

There is also a growing appreciation for bridal brands that focus on process, detail, and artistry. In an industry shaped by fast trends and endless inspiration, craftsmanship is becoming one of the clearest markers of true luxury. Brides want pieces that feel special, not just how they look, but how they are made.

Within this changing space, Lè Couture Peony (LCP) stands out as a bridal house rooted in thoughtful design and refined craftsmanship. Known for creating bespoke bridal pieces that blend elegance with precision, this brand reflects a new kind of luxury. One that feels personal, intentional, and deeply connected to the woman wearing it.

We speak with the founder, Opeyemi Oni, about the brand, vision, their creative process, and the artistry that defines each piece.

Interview With Opeyemi

What Inspired The Brand?

I was inspired by a desire to create bridal wear locally, rather than relying on gowns sourced from abroad, which was the norm growing up. I believed that if we could design and make beautiful everyday clothing, we could do the same for wedding dresses- crafted to reflect our own tastes, stories, and sense of style.

Bridal design, in particular, drew me in because it allows for a deeper level of artistry and intention. Unlike ready-to-wear, it offers the time and space to create something truly special. Every bead, stitch, drape, and fabric choice is considered with care. For me, bridal-wear is where fashion becomes art- an intricate, handcrafted process rooted in beauty, craftsmanship, and love.

How would you describe your design philosophy?

My design philosophy is rooted in modern minimalism- creating timeless, intentionally crafted bridal-wear that balances clean structure with thoughtful detail. Each gown is designed with precision, from the silhouette to the finishing touches, ensuring every element feels purposeful and refined.

At its core, the brand embraces understated elegance: sophisticated pieces, meticulously made, and deeply personal to each bride.

What defines your approach to craftsmanship?

My approach to craftsmanship is deeply personal and tailored to each bride. Every design begins with an understanding of the individual- her vision, preferences, body, and the way she wants to feel on her day. From there, every detail is considered with intention, from fabric and lining to embellishments and structure.

I also take into account the setting, climate, and overall tone of the event to ensure each gown is not only beautiful, but thoughtfully designed for its moment. The result is a piece that feels refined, purposeful, and uniquely hers.

Who is the Lè Couture Peony (LCP) bride?

The LCP Bride is confident, self-assured, and unafraid to express herself. She is drawn to modern minimalism- an aesthetic that is refined, intentional, and effortlessly elegant.

For her, minimalism is not about simplicity alone; it is about balance. She appreciates structure, beauty, and thoughtful detail, whether in clean lines or subtle embellishment. She values understated luxury, embraces individuality, and chooses pieces that feel both bold and timeless.

Behind-the-Scene with LCP

The Atelier environment at LCP is very important for how the sketches come to life, the cutting, stitching & detailing process.

From the initial consultation to the final fitting, each gown is brought to life through a meticulous, hands-on process. Every piece begins with a sketch, followed by thoughtful fabric sourcing, precise pattern drafting, and careful construction.

While production moves efficiently, the true artistry lies in the finishing, where each detail is refined with patience and precision. It is this stage, and the time, care, and craftsmanship it demands, that I find most rewarding.

The LCP Fitting Process

The LCP fitting Process focuses on these three aspects: interaction with the bride, the emotional moment of the first fitting, and the adjustment process.

The fitting process is a gradual and deeply meaningful journey. The first fitting, typically held about three weeks after an order is placed, focuses on structure and fit. At this stage, the gown is still in its foundation form, allowing for adjustments to be pinned, tailored, and refined.

It is often during the second or final fitting, when the gown is nearly complete, that the emotional significance truly sets in. With the lace, beading, and finishing details in place- and often the veil added for the first time- brides begin to fully envision themselves on their wedding day. These moments, especially when shared with loved ones, are often incredibly special and emotional.

Fabric Selection Process

Fabric selection focuses on sourcing, textures, materials, and fabrics to create a luxury minimalist feel.

Fabric sourcing is a collaborative and highly considered part of the design process. With the growth of Nigeria’s fashion industry and access to both local and international suppliers, sourcing unique, high-quality fabrics has become more seamless than ever.

Each selection is guided by the bride’s vision. From lace patterns and textures to color and underlay, clients are involved in the process. Whether choosing between floral or more understated designs, every fabric is carefully curated to align with the overall aesthetic, ensuring the final gown feels both intentional and uniquely personal.

Going To The Chapel Bridal Collection

Going to the Chapel (GTTC) is the latest bridal collection from LCP. The collection is a celebration of the many facets of the modern wedding journey, inspired by the timeless grandeur of a cathedral ceremony. At its heart is a desire to re-imagine the romance and elegance of traditional bridal moments, while also embracing contemporary ways of celebrating love.

This collection features three distinctive styles, thoughtfully designed looks for every stage of the wedding experience- from the cathedral ceremony to outdoor celebrations, civil weddings, and intimate courthouse moments. Each piece is intentionally crafted with its setting in mind, balancing beauty, comfort, and functionality.

With a strong focus on innovative fabric choices, nuanced color, intricate beading, and refined detailing, the collection reflects a holistic vision where every element- from the gown to the setting, styling, and overall presentation- works in harmony.
