Simple Tips for Bridesmaids Selection

OMASTYLE BRIDE

Bridesmaids are your group of girls that stands by your side when you say I Do! Bridesmaids provides you, the bride with support on the wedding day and days leading up to the wedding. Putting together a group of fabulous bridesmaids for your wedding can be easy or hard depends on the bride. Below, I have listed my simple tips for bridesmaids selection.

Some brides have a large group of girlfriends and while some don’t. The hard part of having a large group of friends is avoiding the guilt of offending any of your girls. So what do you do?

Here are my tips for selecting your beautiful bridesmaids and avoid the guilty trip that some bride face. I wish I knew then what I know today (sometime experience is the best teacher). I had to learn this the hard way when I planned my wedding years ago.

I had my number set at six bridesmaids, but as a Nigerian American, it was a struggle because I had a lot of family members and close friends to consider. Long story short, I ended up with eight beautiful bridesmaids. I hope you don’t have to struggle with your selection as I did. Here are my tips from my experience.

1. YOUR BIG DAY

Your big day is a special occasion and you need to only surround yourself with your ride and die girls you get along with the most and they know how to keep you calm because you will need them to do just for you that day.

2. YOUR BRIDESMAIDS

Your bridesmaids selection should be quality over having “only sexy bridesmaids”. But hey, if you’re lucky and get both with your girls, that doesn’t hurt either! The most important thing is that this group of girls you selected as your bridesmaids should be the ones that will be there for you. If needed, they can step in and make sure your wedding day goes as planned with or with you having a wedding planner.

3. PRE-DETERMINE YOUR NUMBER

Pre-determine your number of bridesmaids to avoid having more bridal ladies than you need. Before reaching out to your girls, discuss and decide with your hubby, the number of bridal train you guys wish to have for your wedding. Your number of bridesmaids needs to be equal to the number of groomsmen your hubby will have.

4. BRIDESMAIDS SELECTION

Select your bridesmaids from your core, long time group of girlfriends that know you very well and wouldn’t want to compete with you for the spotlight on your big day.

5. YOUR GIRLS

Your bridesmaids should be your girls, who will be at all your events leading up to your wedding. But note, if any of your bridesmaids live in a different state or married; they might not be at every pre-wedding event. That shouldn’t be a problem and don’t make a big deal of it as long as you know they are committed, and will be there on your wedding day.

6. FEELING BAD

Do not feel sad or guilt for not adding any of your girls to your bridal train. There are other ways you can still include them in your wedding. You can either have your friends who are not part of the bridesmaids to be in charge of your bridal shower or bachelor’s party. Or have them as your Asoebi ladies for your traditional wedding. All are also part of the wedding process too.

Remember to have fun planning! I wish you all the best with your planning & marriage!
